Which Magic: The Gathering Commander precons are worth opening?+
Mana Value totals all 100 cards in each preconstructed Commander deck as singles and sets that against what the sealed deck sells for. A ratio above 1× means the cards inside are worth more than the sealed product, so the deck is a candidate for opening and selling in parts; below 1× means the sealed deck is worth more intact.
How is the singles total calculated?+
Every card is priced at the exact printing that ships in the box — including the foil commander where the deck has one — and multiplied by how many copies the deck contains. Cardmarket prices use the trend price in EUR, TCGplayer the market price in USD. The sealed price is that same deck's sealed product on the same marketplace.
Why do some decks show a card count next to the singles total?+
That flags partial price coverage: not every printing in the deck has a listing on that marketplace yet, which is common right after release. The singles total then only counts the cards that do have a price, so treat it as a floor rather than a final figure.
Where do the prices come from?+
Prices come from Cardmarket and TCGplayer and are refreshed regularly. Cardmarket prices are in EUR and TCGplayer prices in USD; Mana Value converts them to your selected currency for display, and your currency also decides which marketplace's data is shown.
Which decks are included?+
Every preconstructed Commander deck Wizards of the Coast has released, from the 2011 Commander decks onward. Collector's Edition variants are excluded — their all-foil printings are too thinly listed for a singles total to be meaningful.
